Wendy Hatala Foley has been captivating Canadian audiences with her style and technical excellence. Her outstanding talent has won her countless scholarships and competitions throughout her career as well as numerous operatic roles, including the role of Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Vancouver Opera , and the premiere of the role of Trish in Leslie Uyeda’s Game Misconduct for Festival Vancouver. She has appeared as a soloist with the Vancouver Bach Choir, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Cantata Singers, the Vancouver Chamber Orchestra, the Vancouver New Music Ensemble, the Wilfrid Laurier University Symphony, the Douglas College Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony, the UBC Symphony, the Abbottsford Symphony, The Vancouver Island Symphony, The Handel Society, The Vancouver New Music Ensemble, as an ensemble member in The Canadian Opera Showcase for The Opera America Conference, recitals at The Out For Lunch Concert Series at the Vancouver Art Gallery and in UBC’s concert series. Recently Ms. Foley performed in the Toronto Sinfonietta's Opera Without the Soap Concert, Duruflé’s Requiem, The Last Night of the Proms with the Oakville Symphony Orchestra, Brahms' Alto Rhapsody and Raminsch's Symphony of Psalms in two separate concerts with The Amadeus Choir, and Handel's Messiah with The Elmer Iseler Singers. After a brief hiatus while having her second daughter, Ms. Foley travelled to Banff where she workshopped a new opera by John Estacio and John Murrell called Frobisher followed by two performances of Rossini's Petite Messe Solonnelle with The Orpheus Choir and Chorus Niagara. Last season Ms. Foley performed with her husband Christopher Foley at the Women in Music Festival at Eastman School of Music, with Choralis Camerata, performing Mozart's Coronation Mass and with Chorus London, performing Beethoven's Missa Solemnis. This season she will be performing Handel's Messiah with the Newfoundland Symphony, Mozart's Requiem with the Oakville Symphony, Rutter's Magnificat and Ronald Tremain's Magnificat with Choralis Camerata, Duruflé’s Requiem with the Ottawa Choral Society and once again with the Oakville Symphony in their Grand Season Finale. Ms. Foley has excelled, not only onstage, but academically as well and is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University (Bachelor of Music) University of British Columbia (Master of Music) and The Vancouver Academy of Music (Artist Diploma). |
