Jennifer Rasor is known both for her beautiful, flexible soprano voice as well as for her remarkable acting abilities. She is very much at home on the stage whether performing as a mischievous soubrette or as an innocent ingénue Most recently, Jennifer appeared as Miriam in Tapestry New Works production of Elijah's Kite which was also heard nationally on CBC radio. Opera and operetta roles have included Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Gilda in Rigoletto with Zwei-Groschen-Oper in Germany, Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Adele (understudy) in Die Fledermaus and "The Voice from Heaven" in Don Carlo with l'Opéra de Montréal, Noye's Fludde in Toronto's Britten Celebrations (for CBC television), the disobedient daughter in Bach's Kaffeekantate & Lucy in Menotti's opera The Telephone with l'Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, Laetitia in Menotti's opera The Old Maid and The Thief with Montreal's Opera Midi, and several Gilbert & Sullivan heroines. Some of her concert works include Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras for soprano and eight cellos with the Toronto's Mooredale Concert Series, Carmina Burana with Montreal's Musica Orbium, Vivaldi's Gloria & Bach's Magnificat with the Ottawa Choral Society, Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt incidental music Opus 23 with both the National Arts Centre in Ottawa & the l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Dvorak's Te Deum with l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate with the Montreal Chamber Orchestra, and Thomson's Stabat Mater with Montreal's Choeur Radio Ville-Marie, Arlan Schultz's Edifice (CBC Radio premère) and John Rutter's Requiem in British Columbia. Last season Jennifer made her Kingston Symphony début singing Mark Sirett's Song at Sunset. Born in British Columbia, Jennifer Rasor now resides in Toronto, Ontario. A graduate of McGill University, she was a member of the Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal and then completed a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance at the University of Toronto. |
