Soprano Eve Rachel McLeod holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, and obtained her Opera Diploma from the University of Toronto. She has recently sung the roles of the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, and The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, by Mozart. She has also performed the roles of Iris in Handel's Semele, Lauretta in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, Philine in Mignon by Thomas, Helena in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Atahensic in the fully-staged première of John Beckwith's Taptoo!, and Mrs. Gobineau and Lucy in the Menotti operas The Medium and The Telephone. Miss McLeod has appeared in concert as a featured soloist with the Toronto Masque Theatre, The Valley Festival near Ottawa, The Aldeburgh Connection recital series, the Mountain View Connection recital series, and with the Calgary Festival Chorus and the Calgary Chamber Orchestra in Mozart's Requiem and Haydn's Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross. Miss McLeod studied at the Banff Centre, The Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburgh, England, the Chautauqua Institute in New York State, and the Mountain View Song Program in Calgary. Last November, Eve was a finalist of the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme in London, England, where she had the pleasure of singing on the main stage of the Royal Opera Covent Garden. Upcoming engagements in Mozart operas include Donna Elvira with Opera Saskatoon's production of Don Giovanni and the Queen of the Night in Mozart's Magic Flute with Brampton Lyric Opera. Miss McLeod will appear in Purcell's Dioclesian with the Toronto Masque Theatre, and will return to England this summer to sing in the Aldeburgh production of King Arthur. . |
