Canadian bass-baritone Daniel Hambly's operatic roles include Don Alfonso in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Leporello and Masetto in Don Giovanni, and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro. He has performed the role of Colline in Puccini's La Bohème and Marco in Gianni Schicchi, Don Magnifico in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and King Balthassar in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. His principal concert-repertoire is extensive including Mendelssohn's Elijah, Handel's Messiah, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Verdi's Requiem, Mozart's Mass in C minor and Requiem, Duruflé's Requiem, Fauré's Requiem, Haydn's Mass in D Minor (Lord Nelson Mass), Watson-Henderson's From Darkness to Light, Bach's B Minor Mass, and Magnificat, Gounod's St. Cecilia Mass, and many more. Mr. Hambly also performs recital repertoire focusing on Vaughn Williams and Schubert among others. Daniel studied voice with Rudolf Piernay of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England, Claudia Catania and Lorenzo Malfatti at the Opera Theatre of Lucca, Italy, and Albert Greer of Orillia, Ontario. He has attended master classes by the late Graziella Sciutti, Luigi Alva and Claudia Catania. He has lived and performed in the Republic of Korea, England, Italy, Canada, and the United States. Recent performances include Mozart's Coronation Mass in London, Bach's St. John Passion with the Kingston Symphony, and the Mozart Requiem with the Toronto Philharmonia Orchestra. |
